What is a CMP?

A CMP, or "Consent Management Platform", is a tool implemented by a company or a service to present their privacy and data collection policy to users in a simple, transparent and straight-forward way, and to ask users for consent to collect their data and to pass it on to 3rd parties.

In other words - the CMP manages the relationship between a company/service, vendors and end users.

A CMP will usually provide a list of the types of data that is being collected, the reasons why this data is being collected and all parties that can have access to this data. The purpose of it is to provide as much information as possible to the users, so they can make an informed and independent decision regarding the collection of their data.
