CurseForge Website Rules
CurseForge serves to provide a safe and discussion-conducive environment for modders, gamers, and developers of all backgrounds to share their experiences, receive support, and establish connections through news, mods, and development discussion. A constructive, respectful and welcoming approach to discussion is required from all members at all times in any discussion and pr hosted here. These below rules apply to all communication areas in the website including comments, issues and the CurseForge forums. These rules are easy-to-follow guidelines for what we do and do not expect from members, authors and all. This is not an exhaustive list and moderators will sometimes make decisions independent of the rules for the safety and best interest of the community as a whole. Please reach out to Support if you have questions, concerns or comments about these rules and guidelines.
- Be Courteous and Respectful
Every member deserves to be treated with respect. Positive and polite posts create a friendly and welcoming environment that all members will feel comfortable in. Please be patient with those who may not natively speak your language.
- Think Before Posting
Sensible, well thought-out and legible posts help other members understand what is being explained.
- Post in Relevant Section(s)
Posting in the most relevant section will ensure threads are seen by members most interested in the subject. Threads posted in the wrong section will generally be moved by moderators.
- Remain on Topic
Threads should remain on the topic that they are discussing, they should not be discussing other topics. A new thread should be made for a new discussion.
- Report Content
Please do not make posts to inform other users of website rules, use the report button to inform moderators when a post breaks the website rules or moderator attention is needed.
- Abide by Developers’ Terms of Service
Due to the nature of game modding, any mod on CurseForge has the possibility to be available on a variety of platforms authored by a variety of developers. Each game developer has their own Terms of Service and CurseForge website members are required to abide by these at all times.
- Use Profanity or Post Inappropriate Content
We require that all content posted on the website is suitable for people of all ages, this includes but is not limited to words, videos and pictures. Any posts containing inappropriate content or profanity (including self censored, automatically censored, acronyms and slang) will be removed from the forum.
- Flame or Provoke
Do not insult or flame other members on the website. Similarly, do not post with the intention of provoking a reaction from fellow members. Instigation is not tolerated.
A spam post is a post that provides no value to the discussion, or a thread that is a nuisance for others who are engaging in discussion. The most common spam posts are posting "tl:dr;", "+1", "this", posting image macros, and nothing but memes or images. Threads are considered spam when they are duplicates or devoid of valuable content. Replying to spam is not permitted either.
- Bumping Threads on the Forums
Posting in a thread only to bring it back to the front page of the forum is not allowed, a thread should only be on the front page of a forum if there is active discussion taking place. The only exceptions to this rule are a small number of help sections, if the section permits bumping this will be noted in the section rules.
Do not use the CurseForge website to generate traffic or attention for your mod content. Links to personal websites and projects are permitted on profiles and signatures. Commercial activities, including advertising, are not permitted on the CurseForge website. Any further exceptions to these rules must be pre-authorised on a case by case basis by an administrator (Contact Us).
- Behave in a Malicious Manner
Do not behave in a manner that can cause distress, harm or inconvenience to other members, staff or the website itself. This includes, but is not limited to, discrimination, bullying, offensive material, using multiple accounts, breaching others privacy and accessing others’ accounts without permission.

Warning Points are also used to trigger automatic forum bans. The point levels at which bans trigger are as follows:
- 2 points is a 3 day ban from posting.
- 3 points is a 5 day ban from posting.
- 4 points is a 7 day ban from posting.
- 5 points is a 14 day ban from posting.

- Permanent bans from the website are only issued by administrators.
- If you incur two Strikes (18 points) within the course of 75 days, you are eligible for a permanent ban upon the next violation, no matter the severity of the violation.
While this is a general set of rules for moderation on the CurseForge website, we reserve the right to take any appropriate moderation or safety steps outside of this framework.
Points expire 30 days after they have been issued.
