Welcome to your new home for modding and custom content (CC). We’re still in the process of bringing more of your favorite mods and content into the CurseForge app, but in the meantime, use this guide to help you install Sims 4 mods on your PC.

Enable Mods and CC in The Sims 4

  1. Open The Sims 4.

  2. Go to Options → Game Options.


  3. Click on Other and enable both:

    • Enable Custom Content and Mods

    • Script Mods Allowed


  4. Click Apply Changes. If a warning appears, confirm by clicking the check mark.


Make sure to Restart the game for the changes to take effect.

Download Mods and CC

Head to https://www.curseforge.com/sims4 and download any mods or CC you’d like.


Install Mods

  1. Copy the downloaded mod files into your Sims 4 Mods directory.

    • Default path:

      • Windows: C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
         

      • macOS: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods/

  2. For content from the Sims / Households or Rooms / Lots categories, place the files in the Tray folder instead:

    • Windows: C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray\

    • macOS: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray/

If the mods/CC that you downloaded and placed in the folders do not work in-game, please replace the files in the respective folders according to the following rules:

  • The 'Mods' folder can contain the following file types: .package , .ts4script
  • The 'Tray' folder can contain the following file types: .trayitem, .bpi, .hhi, .rmi, .sgi



Example

If you download the Go for a Walk with More Pets mod, you’ll see two files:

  • LittleMsSam_GoForAWalkWithMorePets.ts4script

  • LittleMsSam_GoForAWalkWithMorePets.package


Both file types (.ts4script and .package) should be placed in the Mods folder.


Note: If your download mod/CC is in a ZIP file, you will need to extract it first, open the extracted folder, and then place the files in the respective directory.
You can extract the contents of the ZIP file using free software such as WinZip, 7-Zip, WinRAR, or any other archiving software of your choice.


All that's left is to relaunch the game and enjoy all the new content!
