Moving to a different location on the same device
If you wish to move your modding folder (including modpacks and all installed content) to a different location on your system, please follow these steps:
- Open the app's settings and go to 'Minecraft'
- Click 'Change' and select the new location for the modding folder:
- When the following prompt shows up, click 'Yes':
- That's it! You can go ahead and play your modpacks as usual :)
Moving the folder to a different device
You can transfer your modpacks and other installed content from one device to another by following these steps:
On the original device
- Open the app's settings
- Select Minecraft from the left menu
- Under 'Minecraft Modding Folder', click 'Open':
- Copy the folder named 'Instances':
- Transfer the copied folder to the new device (you can use a disk-on-key, a shared folder online or any other method you prefer)
On the new device
- Set up a new modding folder:
- Open the app's settings
- Select Minecraft from the left menu
- Under 'Minecraft Modding Folder', click 'Open'
- Copy or move the original 'Instances' folder into the modding folder (overwriting the new one)
- The modpacks should now show up in the app
