Overview
CurseForge Servers let you turn any modpack with a matching serverpack into a hosted multiplayer server in a few clicks- no manual file uploads or port forwarding required. The process has five stages (plus purchase and management) :
- Choose Modpack
- Choose Plan
- Choose Region
- Server Details
- Payment
Currently, there are ~9000 modpacks supported for server creation. Support for any modpack, including your own custom ones, will be added to future versions.
Step 1: Open the Servers Tab
- In the CurseForge app, select Minecraft from the sidebar
- Click the Servers tab at the top (next to Discover, Browse, Skins)
- You'll land on My Servers, which shows the CurseForge Servers overview: one-click modpack installs, friend sharing and author support

- Click Host A Server to begin
Note: If you aren't logged in, you'll see a "Log in to CurseForge" prompt. You must be logged in to create or host a server.
Step 2: Choose a Modpack
- Use the search bar to find a specific modpack, or browse the list (sorted by recency/popularity)

- Each entry shows the modpack name, author, size/category tags, download count, and last update
- Note the "Using: [filename]_server.zip" label- this is the exact server pack CurseForge will deploy. Some modpacks offer multiple server file versions via the dropdown next to the filename, you can select a different server file if you wish
- Click the modpack to select it (it highlights with an orange border)

- Click Next
Step 3: Choose a Plan
Three tiers are available, priced monthly:

Select a plan based on expected player count and modpack size, then click Next.
Tip: Larger/heavier modpacks (e.g., kitchen-sink or Extra Large tagged packs) may need Gold or Diamond even with fewer players, since RAM usage scales with mod count, not just player count.
Step 4: Choose a Region
- CurseForge shows up to 9 regions, sorted by estimated latency (ping) from your current location
- The Suggested region (lowest ping) is pre-selected and marked with an orange badge

- Pick the region closest to the majority of your players, then click Next
Step 5: Set Server Details
- Enter a Server Name

- Review the Summary panel:
- Modpack and server file being used
- Selected region and ping
- Selected plan (RAM/CPU) and its tier badge
- Total monthly cost
If everything looks correct, click Purchase.
Note: Billing is handled by Tebex, not CurseForge directly.
They can be contacted at checkout-support@tebex.io.
Step 6: Server Purchase
- After payment, CurseForge shows a "Checkout in progress" screen confirming the purchase and outlining next steps:
1. Complete payment securely in Tebex
2. Return to CurseForge to track provisioning
3. Server will be ready in several minutes (Server set up is performed by Shockbyte) - Back in My Servers, your new server appears under Owned with a "Setting up your server..." progress bar
Step 7: Manage the Server
Once the server has been purchased:
- The server card updates to show its IP address and port and modpack tags.
- Two action buttons appear:
- Manage ▾ expands to:
- Manage server
opens the Shockbyte control panel- console, files, restart, backups, etc. - Get Support
Note that server support is provided by Shockbyte. - Manage subscription
billing/plan changes, cancellation
- Manage server

- Join
Launches the CurseForge app's Minecraft client directly into the server.
This is only available for game versions above 1.20.1.
Importing a Server via Link or Code
Once a server exists, its owner can invite friends to install and join it without those friends going through the full "Host A Server" setup themselves.
- From My Servers, find the server you want to share and open its options (this is available alongside the Manage/Join controls on an owned server).

- A Share Server with your friends dialog opens, offering two sharing methods:
Copy Direct Link- a one-click direct install link. Sending someone this link lets them install the server profile straight into their CurseForge App with a single click.
Copy Import Code- a short code the recipient enters manually inside the CurseForge App (via an Import Server option) to add the same server.
- Both methods add the server profile (modpack, IP, and connection info) to the recipient's CurseForge App- they are not creating their own hosted server or being billed, they're just importing the connection details for an existing server so they can install the matching modpack and join it.
- Expiration: the link and code are time-limited- the dialog displays the exact expiration date (e.g., "They will expire in 7 days on 10/2/2026"). After that, generate a new link/code from the same dialog to keep sharing.
This is the recommended way to get a modpack + server connection into friends' hands quickly, since it avoids manually distributing IP addresses or having each player separately install and configure the modpack.
I've joined a server sent by a link or code and it is showing as offline/unavailable
Please contact the server owner regarding this matter to verify that their server is still online.
Deleting a server
In order to delete a server you own please click on Manage subscription:

Then Manage Plan:

if there is any issue deleting the server please contact Tebex support.
They can be contacted at checkout-support@tebex.io.
Quick Troubleshooting Notes
Stuck on "Setting up your server..." for longer than 5 minutes
Check Manage server for provisioning errors, or contact Shockbyte support with the server's order/reservation details.
Wrong server pack version deployed
Go back to Step 2- some modpacks list multiple server zip versions; confirm the correct one was selected before purchase.
Billing questions (refunds, plan changes, failed payments)
These go through Tebex, since Tebex is listed as the seller and merchant of record not CurseForge/Overwolf directly.
They can be contacted at checkout-support@tebex.io.
