Take me to...

Installed mod is not detected

The CurseForge app connects to the same repository as the CurseForge website, allowing mod authors to upload their projects and share them with the community.

If you are using a mod that does not appear in the CurseForge app or website, it could mean:

  • The mod is pending review by CurseForge's moderation team. Once approved, it will be available in the repository. You can check the moderation team’s working hours here.
  • The project is not available in the repository, and therefore will not be detected by the CurseForge app.

Why some mods aren't uploaded to CurseForge

Mods and addons in the CurseForge repository are submitted and managed directly by their creators. Some authors choose to host their projects elsewhere, meaning those mods will not appear in CurseForge.

If you would like to see a specific addon or mod in CurseForge, consider reaching out to its author and requesting that they submit it to the CurseForge repository.

Oops, that was not supposed to happen!

This error can occur for several reasons. Below are common causes and suggested solutions:

Firewall/Antivirus

Firewall or antivirus software may block Overwolf or the CurseForge app, preventing them from connecting to CurseForge’s servers.

Check your firewall/antivirus settings and ensure both applications are unblocked and granted the necessary permissions.

DNS Issues

DNS problems can interfere with the app’s connection to CurseForge’s servers.
You can try setting or changing your IPv4 DNS server address by following these steps:

Windows

  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Click 'Network and Internet'
  3. Click 'Network and Sharing Center'
  4. Click the 'Change adapter settings' option in the left pane
  5. Right-click the network interface that connects Windows to the internet, and select 'Properties'
  6. Select and check the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option
  7. Click the 'Properties' button
  8. Select the 'Use the following DNS server addresses' option
  9. For 'Preferred DNS server' type in: 1.1.1.1

MacOS

  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Click 'Network and Internet'
  3. Click 'Network and Sharing Center'
  4. Click the 'Change adapter settings' option in the left pane
  5. Right-click the network interface that connects Windows to the internet, and select 'Properties'
  6. Select and check the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option
  7. Click the 'Properties' button
  8. Select the 'Use the following DNS server addresses' option
  9. For 'Preferred DNS server' type in: 1.1.1.1

CurseForge Plugin

Occasionally, this issue may be caused by a problem with the CurseForge plugin.
To fix this, uninstall both CurseForge and Overwolf, then reinstall them using this link.

ISP Block

Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) may block connections to the CurseForge domain.
Try connecting via a different network (a mobile hotspot may work), or use a VPN to see if the issue is resolved.

IPv6

In some cases, disabling IPv6 may help. However, this is generally not recommended by Microsoft and should be used as a last resort.

To disable IPv6:

  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Click Network and Internet
  3. Click Network and Sharing Center
  4. Select Change adapter settings in the left pane
  5. Right-click the network connection you use and select Properties
  6. Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)

Long Loading Time / Content Not Loading At All (Intel Killer Networking Software)

If the app’s screens take a long time to load, or fail to load entirely, the issue may be caused by connection interference from Intel Killer Networking Software (or similar programs).

If you have Intel Killer Networking Software installed, ensure it is updated to the latest version, then relaunch the CurseForge app.

If you do not have this software installed, or if the problem persists, please contact us for further assistance and we will do our best to help.

"Missing required disk permissions for installation"

To solve this issue, please open the menu to the right and select 'Repair folder permissions':

"This mod/addon might be corrupt" Warning

You may see this warning for certain mods/addons you have installed. It indicates that the mod/addon either does not match the game’s current instance or that there may be an issue with its files.

How to Fix the Issue

Reinstall or Update the Mod/Addon.
Right-click the mod/addon in the CurseForge app and select Reinstall (or Update).

If reinstalling doesn’t work delete the mod/addon.

Make sure you that the mod/addon is installed to the correct game instance (mainly relevant for World of Warcraft).

If the addon does not appear in search results, it is not available for your current instance and is intended for a different one.

Install the mod/addon again

If you need further help resolving this warning, please contact us and we’ll assist you.

Additional Notes

The warning may appear even if the mod/addon works correctly in-game. We are actively investigating this behavior.

Visual Issues (Hardware Acceleration)

If you experience visual glitches in the app such as flickering, artifacts, grainy textures or a completely black screen disabling hardware acceleration may resolve the issue.

Follow the steps below based on the version of the CurseForge app you are using:

Overwolf

  1. Open Overwolf's Settings window
  2. Go to 'General'
  3. Toggle the 'Hardware Acceleration' option off
  4. Restart Overwolf & CurseForge in order for the change to take effect

Standalone

  1. Right-click the app’s shortcut.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Go to the Shortcut tab.
  4. Copy the following argument (including the leading space):
    --disableHardwareAcceleration
  5. Paste it at the very end of the Target line.
  6. Run the app using this shortcut.
