In order to maintain a healthy environment that promotes both collaboration and accountability among our community, the following guidelines describe what Warner Bros. Games considers acceptable and not acceptable Hogwarts Legacy (“Game”) content on Overwolf’s platform, CurseForge. The moderation guidelines set forth below are intended to supplement CurseForge’s moderation guidelines and policies, and to the extent they conflict, the Hogwarts Legacy Moderation Guidelines will take precedent.

Mods must adhere to the standards described in this document and will be reviewed for compliance by Overwolf staff and may be subject to administrative action as described by Overwolf’s Community Guidelines, including, removing a Mod, a warning and/or suspension of your CurseForge Account. In addition, Warner Bros. Games maintains the right to take down any mod at any time for any reason.

Please note this is a live document and will continue to evolve and be updated based on Mods created and the needs of the community, so check back regularly for updates.


Mods must:

  • Be made available to all users for free. Mods cannot be sold, licensed, or rented for a fee, nor can Mods contain features that would support monetary transactions of any type.
  • Comply with the ESRB “Teen” Rating and content descriptors, or the Game rating specific to your territory. 
  • Not publicly share user generated content appearing in the Creator Kit or game until the mod containing that content has been submitted and approved for public release on CurseForge.
  • Mods can only be used in Hogwarts Legacy and cannot be incorporated into any other third party game or product.



Mods must not contain the following:


Violence/Sex/Drugs/Alcohol/Gambling

  • Nudity, sexually explicit language, any actual or implied sexual content, sexual gestures, and/or inappropriate romantic or sexual relationships.
  • Content related to the use or promotion of alcohol (Butterbeer aside), smoking, vaping, or using any drugs.
  • References to, or that stimulate, gambling or betting.
  • Depictions of extreme violence and/or gore, fighting and graphic injury, and/or violence involving guns or similar weapons.
  • Swearing, cursing or similar strong language unsuitable for the Game’s rating.
  • Any content that glorifies, promotes or encourages self-harm.
  • Any content or activity that promotes child (defined as anyone under the age of 18) endangerment or promotes violence towards children.  
  • Any depiction of child characters must be in a decent and respectful manner.
  • Any depiction of animal cruelty.


Third Party IP/Likenesses

Unless you have the proper permissions from the property owner or representative, Mods must not incorporate or contain content that violates or infringes any trademark, copyright, moral rights or other intellectual property rights of any third party, including right of privacy or right of publicity. This includes:

  • Real world brands, brand names, logos, or any defining marks for other IP.
  • The names and depictions of real world locations, buildings or landmarks are prohibited.
  • Third party-owned images, characters, voices/audio, music,
  • Names, images, or likenesses of real world people
  • Content from other mods
  • Content from other Warner Bros. Discovery and Warner Bros. Games intellectual property


Politics/Religion/Culture

  • Religion, religious symbols, imagery or text.
  • Content that may be generally construed as provocative, divisive, objectionable, discriminatory, or abusive toward any real-world individual or group; including hate speech or attacks based on race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or medical conditions or creed.
  • Content that could harm Warner Bros. Games Inc., its affiliates, products, games, users or staff.
  • Representation of political preferences, positions, ideologies, or sociopolitical conflicts.
  • Terrorism and violent extremism that promote unlawful violence or spread intolerance.


Other

  • Content that enables or promotes illegal activity such as any software or program that damages, interferes with or disrupts another's network, computer, or property, such as viruses, spyware, malware, etc.
  • Content that is abusive, hateful, harassing, profane, defamatory, threatening, obscene, vulgar, offensive, indecent, illegal, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate.
  • Anything which presents a mod as “official”, or otherwise affiliated or endorsed by Warner Bros. Games or any other Warner Bros. Discovery company.
  • Materials which breach the terms of Warner Bros. Games Inc. and Overwolf.
  • Do not share or post personal or private information of yourself or others, including, photos, videos, audio recordings, full name, addresses, phone number. email addresses or any other sensitive information.
  • Do not create a Mod that includes exclusive or paid content from the Game (for example DLC) that is not part of the base Game.
