An error has occurred. Please check your connection and try again.
Ensure your network is stable. If you use antivirus, VPN, or proxy tools, try disabling them temporarily:
- Antivirus/Firewall: These may interfere with the connection. Disable temporarily to test.
- VPN: Disable any VPN software and try again.
- Proxy Settings: Ensure “Use setup script” and “Use a proxy server” are both disabled.
Windows 10:
Windows 11:
If you're on macOS, disable Private Relay under iCloud.
On Windows, refer to Microsoft’s article on resetting the Hosts file.
If the issue persists, it could be server-side. Check CurseForge X/Twitter & CurseForge Discord for updates or contact support for assistance.

Game not found
This message appears when:
- The selected folder does not contain the game’s exe (executable file).
Please make sure to select the game's installation folder (the folder that contains the game's .exe/.app file), not the game's mods installation folder. - The game is not supported by the CurseForge app. Refer to the list of supported games Here.
General install error
Possible causes:
- Network Issues: Check your connection.
- Low Disk Space: Ensure enough free space on both your system and modding folders.
The app first downloads mod files to the local %temp% folder (which is usually located in the hard drive where the operating system is installed), and later moves them to their final destination. - Server Errors: Check CurseForge X/Twitter & CurseForge Discord.
I/O error occurred
This typically means the app can’t interact with local mod/addon files:
- Check for services like OneDrive or iCloud that may be locking files.
- Manually delete and reinstall the problematic mod/addon.
- Clear the %temp%\CF folder.
If unresolved, please contact support and include your logs.
Missing required disk permissions for installation
- Ensure antivirus isn’t blocking CurseForge or Minecraft files.
- Run CurseForge as administrator.
- Try repairing the folder permissions:
- Make sure that your Windows user has full control over the modding folder. For example:
- On macOS, confirm access to the Documents folder:
Oops, that was not supposed to happen!
Follow the general troubleshooting instructions outlined Here.
